MY ROLE PROJECT MANAGER AND SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER
I currently lead Sew Valley’s low impact and sustainability efforts. Additionally I lead the production team in staying on track for client projects through diligent time lines and consistent production floor planning. As well as helping clients understand the details of their scope and communicating with them throughout the entire process. Additionally I am in charge of our interns, I manage and initiate organization techniques and policies within SV, and I continue to help develop the company as we grow. I participate in patterning, prototyping, sampling, and production sewing through the whole process. Below are pieces I helped manage and sew.
INITIATIVES I HAVE BEGUN AT SEW VALLEY
Paper and plastic recycling
fabric waste tracking and policy
introducing sustainability statistics to clients
development and production procedures
I patterned, prototyped, and sewed these ‘thank you style’ 100% silk organza bags for Working Girls. With french side seams and a double turned edge finish.
Gem City Aprons
I patterned, developed, and sewed all aprons for Gem City Aprons. They use secondhand 100% cotton denim from Helpsy to cut up and rework into aprons. Using serged seams, topstitch techniques, bartacking, and grommets.
I helped create and construct the lining for Kordals AW18 coat as well as helped in the sewing construction in a pair of corduroy pants - all made from deadstock fabric.
LOST ART PRESS
I helped Sew Valley produce 100 Chore Jackets from start to finish. This jacket features felled seams, double needle topstitching, keyhole buttonholes, cuffs and more.
GRIND AND GLAZE
I helped manage Tessa Clarks entire production process with Sew Valley from sampling to production. I digitized patterns and helped produce her AW18 collection. The collection consisted of 8 styles with a mix of fabrication from wool to twill to 100% stretch cotton knits. These pieces required various machines and stitch techniques.
Sew Valley created women’s jumpsuits and a mens chore jacket for Rhinegeist employees. I helped in the construction and digitizing process as well as the physical sewing in sampling and production.
